Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Tuesday that Japan must demonstrate its commitment to normal relations with China through concrete actions.

Lin was responding to media reports that senior members of the Japan–China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union hope to send a delegation to China before the end of the year.

At Tuesday's regular news briefing in Beijing, Lin said China has taken note of the reports. He said the Chinese government was also aware of growing concern among visionary people inside Japan over the harmful impact and serious consequences of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent erroneous remarks.

"We urge the Japanese side to reflect, correct its mistakes, withdraw Prime Minister Takaichi's erroneous remarks, and stop harming the feelings of the peoples of the two countries," Lin said.

He added that Japan should demonstrate its commitment to normal relations with China through concrete actions that create the necessary conditions for such exchanges to take place.

It is to be hoped that relevant groups in Japan will play a more positive role in this regard, Lin said.
