Testing center for virtual power plants

The country is set to establish its first metrology and testing service institution covering the entire industry chain, traceability chain and life-cycle of virtual power plants (VPPs). The Fujian Virtual Power Plant Industry Metrology and Testing Center will provide such services to meet the growing need for industrial development. The provincial administration for market regulation approved the center, which will be jointly established by State Grid Fujian Marketing Service Center, Fujian Metrology Institute and Xiamen University of Technology. Upon completion, it will provide services for VPPs and related resources, and assist VPPs in participating in grid regulation and market transactions.

Eco-restoration to protect Yellow River

Local authorities have intensified efforts to better protect the Yellow River. Law enforcement staff members from the procuratorate, and agriculture and rural affairs bureau of Chengguan district under Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, have launched a campaign to battle illegal fishing, safeguarding the ecological safety of the Yellow River Basin. Guided by experts, they also released over 1,600 carp — purchased illegally — into the Yellow River. In recent years, the local procuratorate has severely punished criminals that damage the ecological environment, providing solid judicial guarantees to bolster the ecological balance.

New TBM used in rail construction

Railway connectivity in the Yangtze River Delta region is set to take a leap forward as a new tunnel boring machine (TBM) is being used in the construction of an intercity railway. China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp, a State builder, said its Qihang TBM has started operations on the Taicang section of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway. After completion, the section will realize transfers with more than 10 Shanghai rail transit lines, such as Lines 2, 9 and 12, as well as suburban railways including airport link lines, CR24G said.
