China's expanding partnership with Africa
As the Belt and Road Initiative projects gather pace across Africa — upgradation of transport networks, strengthening of energy systems and expansion of digital connectivity — the scope of China-Africa cooperation is expanding beyond infrastructure.
Complementing these advances, China has decided to grant zero-tariff access to 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, a move announced in June 2025 that is widely seen to boost Africa’s trade while deepening economic ties between the two sides.
This year marks the year of people-to-people exchanges on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of launching diplomatic relations between China and Africa. Looking ahead, the two sides are set to build on practical cooperation and continue advancing together toward shared prosperity.
