BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping received the credentials of 18 new ambassadors to China in Beijing on Friday.

Addressing the envoys, Xi welcomed them to assume their new posts in China, and asked them to convey his best wishes to the leaders and peoples of their respective countries. He encouraged the ambassadors to travel widely across the country, gain a full and in-depth understanding of the real and multifaceted China, and actively contribute to the deepening of friendship and cooperation between China and their countries.

Xi noted that China today is forging ahead with courage and determination on the new journey of Chinese modernization. The 14th Five-Year Plan has been successfully completed, China's economic output has crossed key thresholds, scientific and technological innovation has yielded a wealth of outcomes, the country is now dotted with clear waters and green mountains, and heart-warming improvements have been made in the people's living standards.

He went on to point out the recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan are the blueprint for China's economic and social development over the next five years and will unlock a growing array of opportunities for the world. China will open its doors still wider, and inject greater certainty and fresh momentum into the world through its high-quality development, so that countries will realize common development and shared prosperity, Xi said.

He noted that in today's world, changes unseen in a century are gathering pace, with the international landscape beset by transformation and turbulence, and global challenges becoming more prominent.

Division, confrontation and zero-sum games have no future, and returning the world to the law of the jungle is unpopular, Xi said, adding that global solidarity and cooperation represents the only right path forward.

Xi said the Global Governance Initiative aims to foster a more just and equitable global governance system. "China will always stand on the right side of history, act with the interests of the people at heart and the greater good of the world in mind, and work with all countries to build a community with a shared future for humanity," Xi added.
