Former Zhejiang Party chief under investigation for serious violations

Former Party chief of Zhejiang province, Yi Lianhong, is under investigation for suspected severe violations of Party disciplines and national laws, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Tuesday.

The announcement was made online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, with no further details released.

Yi, 66, a native of Hunan province, began his career in August 1976 and joined the Party in June 1985. For decades, he served in various positions in his hometown, including Party chief of Yueyang city and Party chief of Changsha, capital of Hunan.

After working in Liaoning province for a few years, he?went to Jiangxi province and became Party secretary of Jiangxi in 2021. He was appointed Party chief of Zhejiang a year later.

In November 2024, he became deputy head of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.
