Progress on Chinese EV presence in Europe welcomed
China looks forward to an increasing number of Chinese electric vehicle companies meeting undertakings on establishing minimum prices as well as reaching certain quotas with the European Union, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
"Earlier, China and the EU, through multiple rounds of consultations and under the framework of WTO rules, achieved a soft landing in the EV case — an outcome widely welcomed by the international community and industries on both sides," He Yadong, spokesman for the ministry, said at a news conference.
According to He, the negotiated consensus provides for both sides supporting Chinese EV enterprises in effectively utilizing the price undertaking mechanism.
The EU has since issued a guiding document and pledged to conduct assessments in an objective and fair manner, consistent with the principle of non-discrimination, He added.
"The Chinese and European automotive industries are deeply integrated, with mutual benefit at their core," He said.
"China remains ready to sustain dialogue with the EU to foster an open and stable market environment for the development of both sides' automotive industries."
