Expert: RMB internationalization may start from the Global South

Drawing an analogy from China's development experience, where progress often began in less-developed areas before expanding more broadly, RMB internationalization could follow a similar path — gaining traction in the Global South before wider adoption, Huang Yiping, dean of Peking University's National School of Development, told #ChinaPerspective. He made the remarks during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026.
