Mainland China will extend a trade pact with Hong Kong by signing supplementary agreements to the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement at the end of June, the Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday.

The fourth supplementary agreements will mainly cover the services sector, including finance, insurance and broking, said Yao Shenhong, the ministry's spokesman, in a press briefing.

China signed the first CEPA agreements with Hong Kong in 2003. Supplementary agreements since then have strengthened the city's economic cooperation with China.

Under CEPA, China has applied zero-tariff treatment to products originating from Hong Kong, and granted Hong Kong-based companies greater access to its domestic markets.
