China Development Bank to set up two investment units

China Development Bank (CDB) is actively preparing for the establishment of investment banking and equity investment units to diversify its business, 21st Century Business Herald said today.

The move is aimed at transforming CDB into a "pure" bank and thus making it easier for the banking regulator to monitor risks, the newspaper cited an unnamed source.

CDB's annual report indicates that interest spread, investment returns and bond underwriting are the three major sources of the bank's profit.
