Chinese shares rebounded on Thursday morning after the government promised to aid small and medium-sized enterprises late Wednesday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.46 percent to open at 2,798.37. The Shenzhen Component Index edged down 0.15 percent to open at 11,193.03.
