Chinese equities close slightly higher Tuesday

BEIJING: Chinese stock markets closed up Tuesday, with the Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,513.95 points, up 2.22 points, or 0.09 percent from the previous close.

The Shenzhen Component Index ended at 10,038.78 points, up 46.11 points, or 0.46 percent, from the previous close.

Total turnover shrank to 142.39 billion yuan ($20.85 billion) from 142.88 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 662 to 202 in Shanghai and gainers outnumbered losers by 700 to 243 in Shenzhen.
