HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks gained 217.28 points, or 0.95 percent, to close at 23,118.07 on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 22,939.95 and 23,150.6. Turnover totaled HK$64.18 billion ($8.25 billion).
