Beijing - China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation Ltd (CSR) announced Sunday that one of its subsidiaries has secured an order of light rail vehicles from Malaysia.

CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co Ltd has won the bid for 20 sets of light rail vehicles for Malaysia's AMPANG (AMG) Line Extension Project, according to CSR.

The company will deliver the first train in 33 months and the rest will be sent within 51 months, CSR said.

The vehicles are each expected to carry a maximum of 1,308 people and run at a speed of 80 km per hour.

CSR said that some of the vehicles will be assembled in Malaysia, the first time for CSR to do so on foreign land.

The 27-kilometer AMG Line is one of the two lines in Kuala Lumpur Rail Transit System network. Consisting of two sub-lines, it has 25 stations.

The latest export order follows news last month that CSR's high-end electric multiple units (EMUs) exported to Malaysia have officially started running in Kuala Lumpur.
