The model is a new four-door, four-plus-one-seat addition to the BMW 6 Series line and it goes head to head with the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and the Audi A7.

Two variants were launched in China last week.

The 640i Gran Coupe, with inline-six turbo engine that has maximum power of 235 kW or 320 hp, sells at 1.205 million yuan.

The more powerful 650i xDrive Gran Coupe is equipped with a V8 turbo engine that provides maximum output of 300 kW or 407 hp and is priced at 2.005 million yuan.

The 650i will formally go on sale in the third quarter this year, but customers can place orders now.

An eight-speed automatic transmission, auto start-stop system and Eco-Pro driving mode are standard in both cars for better fuel efficiency.

The car is 5,007 mm long. Its wheelbase is 113 mm longer than that of the two-door 6 Series Coupe.
