Radio broadcaster punished for 'obscene' shows(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-03-05 19:43 BEIJING -- In its latest crackdown on indecent broadcasting, China's central regulator has lashed out at a provincial radio station for airing sexually-explicit programs despite an earlier ban. Anhui Provincial Radio Station (ARS) in East China continued to broadcast "obscene sexually-explicit programs" despite the fact the Guizhou Radio Station had been criticized publicly on February 19 and punished for airing similar offensive content, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) said in a circular on its Website. The ARS ignored the ban and the social responsibility it was supposed to shoulder. This was a very serious problem, SARFT said. The administration ordered provincial regulators to cancel the show and investigate and punish the station's relevant officials. |
