Chinalco says to invest US$19.5b in Rio Tinto

BEIJING -- China Aluminum Corporation, or Chinalco, announced Thursday it would invest US$19.5 billion in mining giant Rio Tinto Group.

The investment would come in the form of setting up a joint venture and purchase of convertible bonds, the Chinese company said.
