The goods are part of the US$5 million worth of assistance the Chinese government has offered to Mexico to help it fight against the deadly A/H1N1 flu pandemic.

The chartered Air China aircraft took off at 7:30 p.m. Beijing time (11:30 GMT) Thursday from the Beijing Capital International Airport.

The Chinese government pledged Thursday 5 million dollars worth of humanitarian assistance to Mexico, US$1 million in cash and US$4 million in medical materials.

The funding was transferred to the Mexican government Thursday and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) is coordinating with related government agencies to arrange the rest of the relief materials.

MOC spokesman Yao Jian said Friday that China was highly concerned about the situation in Mexico and nations should work together to counter the spread of the A/H1N1 flu virus.
