According to the latest statistics released by China's National Bureau of Statistics on September 7, as of 2008 China's economic aggregate ranked third in the world and China has stepped from a low income country to a lower middle income country, according to CCTV.com.

The report said China's GDP kept an average growth rate of 8.1 percent in the past 60 years since the foundation of the People's Republic of China, and the economic aggregate increased by 77 times.

In 2008, China's national income per capita reached $2,770. According to the standard set by the World Bank, China has become a lower middle income country.

China has also become a world manufacturing giant, the report said.
