GUILIN -- Chinese and Thai special forces Friday began a joint anti-terrorism drill, the third of its kind between the two countries' armies since 2007.

The "Strike-2010" exercise will last 15 days in the city of Guilin, in south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

"The drill aims to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries, boost military mutual trust and share urban anti-terrorism experience," said Zheng Qin, deputy commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Guangzhou Military Area Command, at a function meant to mark the start of the drill.

Each country has sent 60 members to the exercise, which includes three phases: showcasing, collective training and comprehensive exercises.

The two militaries held similar drills in south China's Guangdong Province in 2007 and Thailand's Chiang Mai Province in 2008.
