The story of the Titanic shipwreck has been found in a textbook for primary school students 100 years ago, the Shenyang-based Liaoshen Evening News reported Monday.

The book was first published in June 1912, two months after the sinking of the ship on April 15, 1912, Zhan Hongge, curator and founder of an educational and historical museum in Shenyang, northeastern Liaoning province, told the paper.

The book is the first batch of textbooks published after the Revolution of 1911, which overthrew China's last imperial dynasty, the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and established the Republic of China, Zhan said. It is preserved in Zhan's museum.

The story of Titanic was covered in two lessons, including the situation of the ship and details of the accident.

The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.
