KUNMING - Torrential rains in Southwest China's Yunnan province early Tuesday morning have left 11 people missing, provincial authorities said.

Heavy rains started at 5 am, triggering floods in the townships of Zhengxing and Weiyuan, located in Jinggu county in the city of Pu'er, according to the provincial disaster relief office.

Seven people have been reported missing and two others stranded in Weiyuan township, according to the report rendered to the office by the civil affairs department in Pu'er.

In Zhengxing township, four people were missing, the report said.

Further information was not immediately known.
