As "China bashing" becomes a hot topic in the campaign for the United States presidential election, China expressed "concern" over the future development of the economic ties between the world's top two economies, China's Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.

"As the US presidential election approaches, some US politicians raised the tone of the accusations against China and tried to politicize trade and economic issues, which we strongly oppose, for that will damage the atmosphere for Sino-US trade cooperation, and probably lead economic ties astray if not resolved well," Shen Danyang, spokesman of the ministry, said during a news briefing on Friday.

"We need to watch the moves of these politicians to tell whether the bilateral trade relationship will be affected, but we are concerned," Shen said.

Shen added that the US accusations against China "are not in line with the interests of both peoples and will have a negative impact in the global economic recovery".
