'Good Samaritan' law mulled in Shenzhen

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-02-25 21:37

Legislators in Shenzhen are mulling a "Good Samaritan" law, proposing that people who perform heroic actions should be applied the presumption of innocence, even if their actions have negative consequences, the Yangcheng Evening News reported on Monday.

The draft law says that people who receive help should collect evidence to prove that the helper was guilty of any wrongdoing, if they believe that their rights were violated.

The draft law also states that good Samaritans will not be held accountable if they have done everything they could to help others, even if their actions have negative consequences.

Another clause in the draft law says that Samaritans can seek help from city- or district-level legal aid organizations if they face threats of lawsuits or any other complaints after helping others.
