chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-04-01 11:31

The Epang Palace scenic spot, which cost more than 200 million yuan ($32 million) and open for just 13 years, will be demolished.

The scenic spot was designed and built in the 1990's and is not in accord with a new theory for the protection of cultural relics. It will be replaced by a large-scale Epang National Archaeological Site Park which will take care of the area and the balance between culture and commerce.

Epang Palace relic is a renowned building and located on 15 km west of Epang village, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, occupying for 1100 hectares. It was one of the groups first national key protected cultural relics.
