Women lead the way on travel plans, survey finds

By Xu Lin | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-08-14 19:23

Women have more say in making tour plans and packing luggage than men, according to an online survey by British flight search engine Skyscanner.

Among the 1,000 global respondents, the survey found that women like traveling alone more than men.

More than 70 percent of women make tour plans ahead, while only 9 percent of them ask their partners to do so.

The survey also found that more than 30 percent of the male respondents are more at ease if women make travel plans for them, and most are satisfied with these plans.

The male respondents said women are more careful and patient and also know more about making choices. Some men allow women to make travel plans because they are too lazy to do so themselves, while some think women enjoy making such plans.

The survey also found that more than half of the men ask women to pack for them. Most women are willing to do so, because they have many more items to pack. Some women also think they are better at packing, others like packing, while some want to decide what men should wear, or secretly place some personal items in men's luggage.

Bao Yi, Skyscanner's general manager for Greater China, said, "Although women play important roles in making plans and packing, they shouldn't neglect men's opinions when traveling."
