The 2013 campaign to choose the top 10 business people in Guangdong province has been launched, with the aim to promote new business growth engines amid the global economic downturn, organizers said.

This year's campaign, organized by Guangdong Television Station and Yangcheng Evening Newspaper Group, will target business people who have helped their companies or industries achieve sustainable development amid the global industrial reshuffle, according to the organizers.

In the past nine years, a number of business people in Guangdong, including Pony Ma, CEO of China's Internet giant Tencent, and Dong Mingzhu, president of Gree Group, the most competitive manufacturer of air-conditioners in China, have won awards in the campaign.

The result of this year's campaign will be announced at the end of December.
