An award ceremony in Shanghai recognized the contribution of 20 financial professionals amid the city's efforts to become an international financial hub.

The ceremony on Friday night, for Shanghai's top 10 financial industry leaders and top 10 financial innovation figures, honored the input of professionals from a wide range of sectors, including financial markets, banking, securities, trusts, funds, futures, insurance, financial information, and accounting.

Some 120 professionals were initially considered and this was whittled down to 25 finalists. Fifty financial reporters selected the 20 from this list.

Shanghai Deputy Mayor Tu Guangshao presented the awards.

Shanghai hopes to be a global financial hub by 2020.
