Yan Jianjun, a deputy to the Shanghai People's Congress, the city's legislative body, has been granted bail pending trial for drunk driving, Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday.
The request from Shanghai's Changning district police to grant Yan bail was approved on Tuesday at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai People's Congress.
He was found allegedly drunk driving by police on the evening of Jan 5.
Yan is president of Shanghai Zeta Group, a leading enterprise in the country's manufacturing and building industries. He won a "Top 10 Outstanding Young Persons of Shanghai" award in 2002.
