It's not unusual to wait for a delayed bus, but the Beijing Bus Museum is six years late.

A bus enthusiast, surnamed Jiang, said he had donated photos and old tickets to the museum in 2008 and was hoping to see them on display.

Beijing Public Transport Holdings had previously said the museum would start operation in May, 2009.

But former members of staff at BPTH said the museum's role has changed and is now being used as an educational center for transport workers.

The museum has yet to get approval to operate as a museum and escalating costs have contributed to the delay.
