FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts: New England Patriots quarterback and twice Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady will miss the remainder of the season with an injury to his left knee, the team said on Monday.

"We feel badly for Tom about the injury," coach Bill Belichick told a news conference. "You hate to see anyone go down. Nobody's worked harder or done more for this team than Tom has. So it's a tough setback for him."

Brady, 31, limped off the field during the first quarter of Sunday's 17-10 season-opening victory over the Kansas City Chiefs when he stepped up into the pocket and was hit by safety Bernard Pollard.
