FAW Toyota Motor Sales Co announced its latest personnel shift on Aug 13. Tian Congming, former deputy general manager of FAW Toyota, will become general manager of the company, switching positions with previous general manager Masanori Hirano, who will take the position of deputy general manager. Both will assume their new posts from this August. Hirano has been general manager of FAW Toyota for 18 months. In the first half of 2013, FAW Toyota sold 244,500 units, a decline of 15 percent year on year. Though Guangqi Toyota sold 139,000 units in the first six months and saw a year-on-year increase of 6 percent despite poor performance among Japanese brands overall, Toyota China's total sales dropped 5.8 percent year on year mainly due to FAW Toyota's sluggish sales in the period. This marks the first time for a Chinese executive to assume a top leadership position in FAW Toyota since the company was established 13 years ago, according to a Toyota executive.
