"A smartphone is like a mobile Internet cafe. Are minors allowed to enter such a place? I don't expect children to give up their smartphones, but want them to set them aside for a while for the sake of their health."

Fu Ai, a father in Chongqing, bought a smartphone for his son, a middle school student, who became addicted to using the device. Fu said the harm done to middle school students by the phones far outweighs their convenience, Oriental Morning Post reported on Tuesday. He spoke to the president of Chongqing Railway Middle School, where his son is studying, saying he intends to donate more than 400,000 yuan ($65,500) to buy traditional cellphones for 4,200 students at the school, the report said.
