Couple binds up mum as hostage

A man and his wife were arrested for holding his elderly mother hostage for
30 hours in Shanghai, according to the Oriental Morning Post.
The man surnamed Dai had a fierce dispute with his father after Dai and his
wife asked to put their names on his father's apartment title. In February, the
young couple held Dai's mother as a hostage and asked her to give up the
property right. The mother tried running away twice but was seized by her son.
Dai bound his mother's hands and feet tightly to prevent her from running away
again and the couple held knives to her throat, reported the newspaper.
Thirty hours later policemen smashed open the window and saved the
mother.
