Chinese president addresses Moscow State Institute of International Relations
( 2003-05-29 10:28 ) (8) Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday addressed the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Hu briefed the audience on China's independent foreign policy of peace, policies of reform and opening up to the outside world and their achievements, the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the development plan for the first 20 years of the 21st century and the ongoing fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Speaking highly of the development of the relations between China and Russia in the last decade, Hu called for efforts to further strengthen the ties between the two countries. President Hu arrived here Monday afternoon for a three-day state visit to Russia, his first oversees trip after he took office in March.
