"Golden Week" boosts trade in Hangzhou

The consumer goods market in Hangzhou has witnessed great boom during the
National Day holiday this year, a statement released by Hangzhou Trade Bureau on
Tuesday afternoon said.
According to statistics issued by the trade bureau, sales volume at five
major shopping centers in the city, namely, Hangzhou Department Store, Jiefang
Department Store, Hangzhou Intime Shopping Center, Hangzhou Building Shopping
Mall and Jingfu Department Store, rose 19.78 percent year-on-year to a total of
173.44 million yuan, or about US$20.97 million, during the Oct.1-6 period.
Meanwhile, business turnover at five major supermarkets in the city, Jiayou
Supermarket, Wanjiafu Supermarket, Legou Supermarket, Haoyouduo Supermarket and
Wumei Supermaket reached a record high of RMB 79.93 million yuan(US$9.66
million),a yearly increase of 38.6 percent, during the first six days of the
seven-day National Day holiday that began on Oct.1, statistics
indicate.
