Chronic cancer patient chooses suicide

Zhang Jianzhong, a cancer sufferer in Changsha, committed suicide on his 53rd
birthday after his euthanasia request was turned down, reports Contemporary
Business News.
Several years ago, Zhang was diagnosed with throat cancer. The disease was
initially brought under control with medical treatment, but his condition began
to deteriorate not long ago.
Zhang's family's savings were nearly used up to cover his medical expenses.
But his request for a mercy killing was refused by both doctors and his
relatives.
The man leapt from the roof of a five-storey building.
