More than 10 farmers were sicken after they drank water from a local drinking water pool, and one 15-year-girl is still in critical condition.

Farmers reported symptoms Friday morning, in Beiqian Village, Leiya Town of Baishui Xian, northwest China's Shaanxi province. Except the girl, other victims have been out of life danger after receiving treatment.

The pool is the drinking water source for some 3,000 people living in the village, villagers said. The village authorities immediately broadcast the poisoning alarm through the village's radio system, preventing more people suffering.

In addition, fortunately majority of villagers were working in fields and drank no polluted water.

The victims are still being treatment in the Baishui County Hospital.

Liu Yimin, deputy head of the police of Baishui County, said the pool was close to orchards where pesticide were spraying these days. But he said it was yet to decide whether the pool was polluted by pesticide spraying or was poisoned deliberately and the police were looking into the case.
