Cambridge to teach Chinese language Cambridge University plans to start a course on the Chinese language to cater to students' growing interest in China and its culture, says Vice-Chancellor Alison Richard. Speaking on Monday at Beijing University where she was conferred an honorary doctorate, Professor Richard said the course would be opened soon to students at Cambridge University's School of Technology and School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
'We have found that not only students in the Chinese studies faculty but students from all disciplines at Cambridge are beginning to show an interest in China's language and culture, and their numbers are growing,' the Beijing Morning Post quoted her as saying. Prof Richard said that former Cambridge vice-chancellor Alec Broers, during a visit to Beijing University three years ago, had expressed a desire to expand collaboration with his Chinese counterparts. Since then, the two universities have made considerable progress.
