A call for public suggestions for a slogan for the Beijing Olympics has drawn 210,000 entries from around the world. Deadline for the motto suggestions was Monday.

Organizers say they will wade through the entries and try to pick a winning slogan in a few months.

Most of the entries are in Chinese, including one said to be submitted by two-week old baby, entered by his parents.

The call for a motto was opened on Jan. 1 and entries are to be judged on how well they reflect Beijing’s notion of “green, high-tech, people's Olympics”.

Along with a slogan, Beijing organizers are evaluating public suggestions for a mascot and a song for the 2008 Games.

All the Olympic news of the week in the February 4 issue of Around the Rings, for subscribers only.
