Singletons inspire intense dating competition

According to statistics, there are 8.28 million single people in Taiwan Island. This has resulted in a heated competition between traditional matchmakers and online rivals, both seeking dominance in a market worth an estimated NT$10 billion (US$300 million).
One such website is planning a huge event in late November, which should attract over 600 people.
However, one traditional matchmaking agency hit back, saying that online matchmaking posed high risks.
