Naomi Watts and boyfriend Liev Schreiber might be tying the knot in Sydney.[The Daily Telegraph]

Her best mate tied the knot in Sydney last year - now it seems Naomi Watts is keen to follow Nicole Kidman's lead and get hitched in the Harbour City too - and soon.

The Hollywood rumour mill is busy circulating rumours the Aussie actress and boyfriend Liev Schreiber (pictured with Naomi) are speeding up their nuptials plans and are hoping to get married Down Under this year.

It seems the big-screen beauty, who revealed earlier this year she was pregnant to Schreiber, is keen to walk down the aisle before she gives birth in late December, according to a report in the New York Post.

Apparently a friend of the couple told the paper that Watts – who hooked up with the New York actor in 2005 – has started making wedding arrangements and is confident they will be able to organise the special day in time.

But because of the rush, the friend claimed Watts and Schreiber were resigned to making the wedding an intimate affair and holding a big bash after the birth.

"There's not enough time to plan a big wedding," the friend claimed on the weekend.

"They'll have just 25 guests for the nuptials in her hometown of Sydney, with a lavish wedding reception for all their stateside friends after the baby is born."

Watts' representative declined to comment on the service speculation but, if the reports are true, Watts will have no trouble tracking down plenty of her A-list friends for the big day.

Two of Watts' closest friends are currently in the country, with actor Russell Crowe living in Sydney and Kidman back home to film Baz Luhrmann's upcoming epic Australia.
