BEIJING  -- "Switch," a domestic action-adventure starring Hong Kong actor Andy Lau and Taiwanese model and actress Lin Chi-ling surpassed "Star Trek Into Darkness" becoming No.1 at China's box office.

The film, which revolves around attempts to protect an ancient scroll, raked in 130 million yuan (21.2 million US dollars) during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, according to China Film News on Friday.

The figure accounted for more than 53 percent of all ticket sales in the holiday, which ended Wednesday.

In stark contrast to its ticket sales, the movie gained a record low ratings at major entertainment website mtime.com.

The movie, which debuted last Sunday, was rated 2.3 out of 10 as of Friday, with most reviews describing it as "lousy."

"Star Trek Into Darkness," a sci-fi action adventure sequel by J.J Abrams, took second spot in the charts making 47.5 million yuan in the holiday.

"American Dreams in China," a drama from Hong Kong director Peter Chan, came in third with 23.3 million yuan in the three days.

In the week that ended on Sunday, the Star Trek sequel topped the box office charts, taking 78 million yuan.
