China remained the biggest market for Vietnamese fruit exports in the first eight months of 2013 with an increase of 43.18 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

During the period, Vietnam has exported 196.04 million U.S. dollars worth of fruits to China, far ahead of other markets. China was followed by Japan with 42.23 million dollars and the United States with 32.88 million dollars, the website of the communist party of Vietnam quoted the ministry as saying on Monday.

The increase of fruits exported to China was attributed to the changes in the Vietnam's fruits and vegetables export structure. Products of dried and canned Vietnamese fruits are much sought after in Chinese market, said the ministry.

As of Sept 15, Vietnam has earned 724 million dollars from fruit and vegetable exports, up 46.7 percent over the same period last year.

Vietnam's fruits and vegetable are now available in 40 markets around the world. The country set a target to earn 1 billion dollars from fruits and vegetable exports in 2013.
