Chinese stock markets closed slightly up Wednesday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.49 percent, or 11.69 points, to end at 2,421.12 points.

The Shenzhen Stock Index gained 1.31 percent, or 122.41 points, to 9,485.43 points.

Total turnover stood at 105.76 billion yuan ($15.48 billion), down from 108.94 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 701 to 148 in Shanghai and 790 to 164 in Shenzhen.
