Ten people were killed and another 38 injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck in Yunxian county, Yunnan province, late on Thursday.

The bus collided with a heavy-duty truck that was carrying a cement tank at a highway section linking Xiangyun county and Lincang.

Nine people were killed on the scene and one later died in hospital, the Lincang city government said in a news release.

The collision, which took place near a tunnel, knocked the bus on its side and flipped the cement truck off the road, the authority said.

The plate numbers indicated that the truck was from Leshan, Sichuan province and the bus was from Linchang.

The bus was not over capacity when the accident took place, the authority said.

Among those injured and sent to hospital, one person has recovered and left the hospital, eight were still in serious condition, and the rest were in stable condition on Friday afternoon.
