與中國體操隊的世界冠軍李小雙和李大雙一樣，美國體操隊也有一對雙胞胎兄弟——保羅·哈姆和摩根·哈姆，弟弟保羅·哈姆還曾為美國摘得世錦賽體操全能金牌。在本屆奧運會上，這對體操明星攜手出征雅典，成為中國隊奪金的最大威脅。弟弟保羅接受媒體采訪時自信地說：“If we have a strong day in Athens, I see us ahead of China. I feel this is a special team, an amazing group of guys. We have the potential to win the Olympic gold medal, and if we just have a good day, we'll be on the medals podium.”Medals podium表示“領(lǐng)獎臺”，而podium表示“墩座、講臺、樂隊指揮臺”的意思。據(jù)悉，保羅和摩根的父親是全美潛水冠軍，姐姐是大學(xué)生體操運動員。
