自上月底印尼政府宣布大幅提高國內燃油價格以來，印尼新增失業人數7萬人。油價攀升使印尼的就業壓力增大，據預測，到今年年底，新增失業人數將達到10萬人。
報道如下：The chairman said that some 300,00 workers were from medium and large-size industries, while the remaining 200,000 workers were from small-size industries. "Laying of workers is a tough decision to make because of the strong relation with workers and the highseverance pay," he said.
Severance pay 指的是“解雇費、離職金”，也就是根據受雇時間長短，給達到離職標準的雇員的一筆錢。Severance有“斷絕、隔絕”，“契約中止或合同到期”的意思，例如：severance benefit（退職福利金）；severance wage（解雇時加發的工資）等等。
