Fix the eczema, prevent asthma

Updated: 2008-09-10 10:01 Children with neurodermatitis, or childhood eczema, are twice as likely to contract asthma later in life as healthy children. Consequently, the disease has to be treated intensely to minimize respiratory problems during childhood and adulthood, says the German Association of Pulmonologists. It was already common knowledge that neurodermatitis can accompany asthma and hay fever. But pulmonologists say the disease can be transferred from the skin to the air passages. |
