City guide (June 19-June 30)

China Daily | Updated: 2013-06-17 16:05

Hong Kong

Cityscapes as dreams

Singapore native Danielle Tay is fascinated by the environment and how natural and manmade surroundings are constructed, perceived and navigated. Her first Hong Kong solo exhibition, The Important Bits, uses collages on paper backgrounds to investigate the planned and unplanned infrastructure of a city with vibrantly colorful textures. The maze-like path in which the collection is exhibited is a microcosm of cityscapes themselves.

10 am-7 pm, Tue-Fri; 11 am-7 pm, Sat; until July 17. Artify Gallery, 10/F Block A, Ming Po Industrial Center, 18 Ka Yip Street, Chai Wan. 852-3543-1260

Portraits of prestige

Hong Kong photographer Almond Chu has a knack for getting inside the minds of his celebrity subjects. The Urbanites, presented by K11 Art Foundation and sponsored by New World Development, is Chu's solo exhibition, showcasing 19 portraits taken over the past 20 years. Coinciding with a photo book published by MCCM Creations, the exhibition includes Zhang Xiaogang, Johnnie To, Perry So, Gary Chang and Douglas Young depicted through Chu's oeuvre as you have never seen them before.

Noon-7 pm, until June 30. 30/F Prosperity Tower, 39 Queen's Road Central. 852-2153-3812
