Sienna Miller, sister start own fashion line

Playing fashion icon Edie Sedgwick in "Factory Girl" isn't enough to satisfy the sense of style of Pittsburgh's favorite visiting actress, Sienna Miller.

With her designer sister, Savannah, Sienna Miller will launch the line Twenty8Twelve by s. miller, backed by Pepe Jeans owner Carlos Ortega. (The name is from Sienna's birthdate; she turned 25 on Dec. 28.) Runway favorite Miller has appeared in Pepe ad campaigns and Savannah's credentials include attending London's Central Saint Martins and working with fellow Saint Martins grad Alexander McQueen, among other top designers.

In "Factory Girl," Sienna channels socialite-turned-model/actress Sedgwick, who found fame as a favored member of Andy Warhol's Factory in New York City. She also found a doomed affair with Bob Dylan and a drug habit that ended her life -- she died of a drug overdose at age 28, in 1971.

The film opened in limited release last week, in time for Oscar consideration, but has no wide release date.

A close-up of Sedgwick on the cover of "Edie Factory Girl" by David Dalton, Nat Finkelstein (VH1 Press, $29.95) bears an uncanny resemblance to Miller. Like Sedgwick, Sienna's sense of fashion and lifestyle (a much-publicized stint as Jude Law's girlfriend, a bout of bad behavior while filming "Mysteries of Pittsburgh" in our town) have provided fodder for tabloid speculation.

Sienna's Twenty8Twelve line reportedly will launch in the fall and feature denim, knitwear, tailored jackets, dresses and outerwear.

"We wanted to create that London world that feels inaccessible," Miller told Vogue, explaining her inspirations, which range from the poetry of the Beat generation, to Patti Smith, to the dark and brooding London of Dickens. The hangtags will be decorated with illustrations by David Cooper of Sienna Miller in looks from the line, while love poems will be tucked into jean pockets, the report said.
